Alton School has been committed to providing a positive and successful learning environment for students since it's establishment in 1990.
What makes Alton School unique?
Program Overview:
- Serving the needs of students in Los Angles and Orange County areas.
- Alton School is an adolescent program for students on diploma track, in need of a therapeutic environment.
- Small class size coupled with high staff ratio enables students to experience educational success.
- Students work at their own pace, or in small groups with an individualized curriculum. School wide "point & level" system provides behavioral guidelines and structure.
- Partially departmentalized, students switch classes for core subjects.
- Traditional calendar, 180 days per school year.
Certification:
- Certified by the California State Department of Education to serve students grades 6 to 12 with the following disabilities: emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, other health impaired and autism (Asperger's Syndrome).
Admission:
- Intake interviews conducted throughout the school year by referral from student's district of residence.
Services provided:
- Individual counseling provided by fully licensed therapists as designated by IEP.
- Door to door transportation for students whose district does not provide busing. Summer program for eligible students.
Special programs:
- Competitive sports; fine art classes; campus jobs; student government; Level 5 Club, field trips, ROP and community college classes.
